Digital Commercial Excellence Manager



Location : Belgium


Our client is a global leading manufacturing company specialized in raw chemical materials, semi-finished engineered solutions and operates a broad range of floor coverings for the residential and commercial markets as well as upholstery fabrics.

It is headquartered in Belgium, and they have production sites in 17 countries across Eurasia, America and Oceania and serve customers in 140 countries.


Main responsibilities and tasks

  • Build, steer and execute a strategic roadmap for digital sales enablement
  • Development, alignment and agreement of the Product Strategy and Roadmap for Digital Portal Sales as a tool for customer engagement and service for all the divisions.
  • Assume the business and functional lead role and product ownership of our client’s digital portal project
  • Coordinate the existing and future Digital portal and E-commerce projects and experiments within the company
  • Analyse the opportunity (and risk) of digitalization and E-commerce in various channels and divisions:
  • B2B: Distribution, DIY, specialized retail,…
  • E-commerce platforms aiming at reducing transaction cost
  • B2C: explore the company’s branded e-commerce platform, multi brand/company marketplace platforms
  • Translate analysis together with the Comex director into the E-business strategy and quantitative business plan including milestones and KPI’s
  • Select the right technology and partners for the digital platform
  • Define and agree with Comex director and management teams on the necessary resources
  • Build and lead the E-commerce team with focus on cross-functional matrix organization: align on daily basis with customer service departments, supply chain management, sales, ICT and external partners to assure value creation through digital portal sales
  • Coordinate product owners of commercial digital projects such as CRM
  • Execute the E-commerce business plan: Communication of agile method and roles and responsibilities to key stakeholders involved in projects
  • Steer projects with smart KPI to drive profitable growth through e-business
  • Build cross-linking with other digital initiatives such as CRM, PIM, marketing automation, etc


The position reports to the Commercial Excellence Director.


Competencies and skills

  • You hold a master’s degree
  • Minimum of 8-year experience with e-business portals, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in successfully deploying and actively using Digital Platforms such as Salesforce Commerce or SAP Commerce
  • An in-depth understanding of all aspects of Digital Portals, and comfort advising the company on legislative, procedural, technological, and people impacts and aspects of Digital Portal implementation and customer engagement.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of e-business projects across people, process, technology, governance, etc. to meet customer engagement outcomes.
  • Experience to integrate other digital initiatives such as Product Information Management, Configure/Price/Quote, Marketing Automation tools into digital portal projects.
  • Natural strategic thinker, with experience of customer engagement strategies and implementing best practice in improving customer outcomes at different touchpoints (customer engagement, customer analytics, customer service)
  • A change-focussed, IT literate individual, with an excellent understanding and experience of e-commerce platform capabilities and their impact on the business.
  • Ability to think and act pragmatically on Customer Engagement, balancing this with other change objectives, and realistically assessing the pace of change possible.
  • Knowledge of the Flooring Industry is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
